Good bye Ken

Chulo's knel had lost another member of the family. Ken, died last April 11 due to red mange he had suffered since he was a puppy.

Ken arrived home last May 8, 2008. He was nearly bald and few of red mange visibly seen in his skin. Although in his condition he manages to cope with it and had grown as an adult pit bull. 

I have him checked from my veterinary for many times. I also tried to apply some homemade remedies like boiling guava leaves with water and the solution is mixed with sulfur powder. Sometime, the red mange can't be seen in his skin but it only takes two weeks and it will come up again.

Ken died because the red mange causes his foot swells and made wounds. He wasn't able to eat his food for three days. I wanted to bring him in veterinary but my vet said it won't be possible now to cure him. So what I did is waited him to die. Sad but true, I can't do anything for him anymore.

An update

I haven't posted any for the last nine months but I can still see few people visiting this site even though there's no such good post to read.

I was busy for a few projects I have from Odesk, sometimes I was too lazy to write. Many sweet memories had gone and I wasn't able to document it here. Well, it is time to work this out and update this blog.

Shydie had given birth last September 30, 2012 to six puppies. Five healthy male and one female. It was my first time to have puppies. I was excited but doesn't know how to care the puppies in which I lost the only female. I felt responsible for what happened to her - I was ignorant and careless. Accident really happens when we are not ready for the responsibilities - a lesson I've learned.

I didn't seek help from any veterinarian. I did all the caring for the puppies, giving them vitamins, giving them shots of anti-parvo and all attentions they need for them to survive - I even stay late making sure that they suck milk from their mother. Days had past, they grow as I expected - I was a good and responsible father to them seeing them growing healthy.

Hot Dog Shows around the Globe in 2013

Whether you are a dog owner or just love them from afar there are many pooches out there along with there owners who love to compete in dog shows and other canine events. For many people showing their dog or dogs is a lifetime commitment and is a really serious business. In honor of dog breeders and dog lovers around the globe here we look at the forthcoming premier dog shows around the world in 2013 which is sure to mean that canine enthusiasts everywhere have something to talk about.

Philippine Circuit Show 2013

Staying close to home initially the Philippine Circuit Show could not be ignored as one of the biggest shows in the region hosted by the Philippine Canine Club. This show spans 4 countries (Philippines, Pakistan, Taiwan and Sri Lanka), however is held at one venue which is the Mega Trade Hall at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City. The show is also the earliest in 2013 running from February 21^st -24^th. There are dozens of titles to be won all contested over the weekend which include; International Champion, Philippine Hall of Fame, Taiwan Champion, Sri Lanka Junior Champion and Pakistan Veteran Champion. Previous winners from previous years include all kinds of breeds from Papillon to Siberian Husky to Yorkshire Terrier so the winners of this years shows is anyone’s guess.

Crufts 2013

A list of worldwide dog shows would not be complete without making mention of Crufts. It is both the largest and most well known dog show around the world and is what many professional breeders and owners aspire to the most because it is so prestigious. For many reasons it has fallen under criticism in recent years due to bad publicity surrounding the overbreeding of certain dogs, however regardless of this it is still the most famous and a Crufts title is highly sought after. Crufts takes place annually in the UK and in 2013 runs from 7^th-10^th March in Birmingham. The show is also televised so from all over the world fans of Crufts can tune in to see what is happening. Not just a dog show, Crufts is also a huge trade show with breeders, rescue centers and other canine professionals for dog lovers or prospective owners to gain information, talk to those in the know and make informed choices about dog ownership or adoption. World Dog Show 2013

This show held in a different location each year. This year it will be hosted by the Hungarian Kennel Club and will be held in Budapest at Hungexpo. The show runs from May 16^th-19^th and the anticipated figures for 2013 are 60,000 people and somewhere between 20,000-30,000 dogs of all sizes, breeds and age. There is a full range of classes and contests from agility to obedience to best of breed giving visitors the opportunity to see a full range of canine exploits over the show’s duration. If this information has got your interest and you would like to show your own dog then there is a wealth of information available on how to get started. Dog shows are a serious business but at the same time can be a fun way for you to pursue a dream with your animal. If you are just wanting to experience the thrill of a show without as much pressure though there are plenty of fun ways to get out and about with your dog by partaking in fun dog shows which are more about just enjoying your pet rather than an ultra serious competition. You can also always take up obedience or agility classes locally with your dog that can be then taken to competition level in your neighbourhood, regionally or nationally. Look up your local kennel club or dog club in order to get in touch with likeminded people or find out about classes.

Regardless of your choices in terms of which shows to pursue it is important to remember that the care and welfare of your dog remains your priority and responsibility. As such try not to place any undue pressure on your dog to perform at any level. If you do decide to travel with your dog then having the right pet insurance policy in place is vital.
